Vertical Cube Mill
Xertelo
One of the most admirable legacies of the Xertelo village is its Mill. It is still in a great shape after restoration works. Part of the water that it needs comes from the streams that were built, some of them centenaries, and may be appreciated along the trail. What makes this mill so special is a structure made of stone that takes the water till the roof and makes it fall as if it was a cascade.
The technique doesn't make the mill very efficient, but the height from where the water falls down creates a kind of accumulator or water deposit. The mill also has a wood knob, perfectly restored, which moves the water when the water reservoir is full. It opens a kind of drawer and makes the water circulate, pulled by gravity, at a constant speed. The mill controls the speed of the milling is done.
