Rock-Cut Wine Press
Vilar de Perdizes
This wine press consists solely of a calcatorium (treading tank) and was entirely carved into a fine- to medium-grained granite outcrop. At the eastern corner of the calcatorium, a drainage channel leads to a spout on the exterior face of the press. This spout is particularly noteworthy for its originality and the craftsmanship of its stonework, with its tip subtly flattened to provide a stable support for the vessel used to collect the liquid.
